We are looking for a portfolio analyst to help us optimise the risk return trade-off in our credit and fraud underwriting. We need an individual who combines commercial judgement with strong quantitative and analytical skills.

About Hokodo

We’re an international and diverse team of experienced finance, tech, and data science specialists, based in London and Paris whose goal is to modernise online B2B payments.

Our B2B Buy Now, Pay Later solution enables merchants to offer credit terms to their business customers instantly. Merchants integrated with us see a 40% average increase in revenue... and we’re only just getting started.

We already have a list of stellar clients and are scaling rapidly across Western Europe. We’ve also recently raised $40 million in Series B investment which will help us with our mission of enabling 1 million businesses to access a better way to pay by 2025. We’ve made good progress so far with 32,000 businesses already regularly using Hokodo, but we need your help to take us to the next level!

About the role

At its core, our business is about helping B2B merchants to sell to as many customers as possible, while avoiding fraudulent transactions and uncreditworthy buyers. We do this by adapting our risk acceptance rules and algorithms to optimise the trade-off between a high offer rate and a low bad debt rate.

We need a fast learner with natural curiosity, strong commercial acumen and good quantitative and analytical skills in order to be successful in this role.

What you’ll be doing:

We are looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to learn fast, grow and make a difference. You will work alongside all other functions of the business including Credit & Fraud Underwriting, Product, Tech and Data Science to optimise the risk trade-offs of our various B2B partnerships. There are multiple components to this role:

• Collaborate with our Tech and Business Intelligence teams to create and improve monitoring dashboards and automated alerts

• Detect trends early, analyse the root cause of non-payment or fraud and propose solutions

• Identify and monitor predictive variables that can be used in underwriting rules to optimise our risk decisions

• Continuously monitor and optimise our underwriting and pricing decisions at partnership and portfolio levels

• Perform analysis to design and assess the impact of changes in pricing, credit and fraud underwriting decisions

• Work with our Sales and Ops team on risk assessing and pricing new deals to support negotiation strategies

Who we’re looking for:

• Interest or work experience in a Fintech or Consulting business

• Interest in developing analytical skills using SQL, Google Sheets or Excel for data extraction, manipulation and visualisation

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Organised and methodical with the ability to multi-task and take initiative

• Comfortable in a fast-paced and tech driven startup environment where change is constant

• Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Good work ethic with strong attention to detail

• Commercial mindset, curious, creative and on the lookout for new ideas and methods

• Have the right to work in the UK or EU without a visa

Nice to have:

• Coding experience in Python

• Previous experience in managing risk underwriting and pricing analysis

• Experience working with data visualisation tools

• Prior work experience within payments, finance or banking

• An additional European language
